A "culturismo" is a bodybuilder who follows a program of muscle building and body shaping through weight training, powerlifting, gymnastics, and the use of machines so their muscles are more defined. The term has been used in Spanish-speaking countries since at least 1933. It is derived from the word "cultura" which means "culture".[3] In modern usage it typically refers to the sport as practiced in Argentina where it would be called culturismo argentino or culturismo muscular. In 1959 Arnold Schwarzenegger won several junior world championships and then won the Mr Europe title as a Light Heavyweight at 18 years old. As a result of his impressive physique he was invited to compete in the Mr Universe contest held in England, where he placed 5th. Encouraged by the experience, Arnold Schwarzenegger started a period of intense muscle building. From that point on Arnold Schwarzenegger had a strong desire to achieve a permanent muscular physique that would make him superior not only among other bodybuilders but also among other athletes on the field of sports competing for physical superiority. In 1967 it became legal to compete for money in competitions dating back to antiquity, on condition that they did not violate the criteria stipulated by any national Olympic committee. This opened the door to bodybuilders, including Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold Schwarzenegger started his career in this sport by entering the Mr. Europe contest held in England. He won, which was some years before the first contest he entered in America. Schwarzenegger competed in more than 100 contests all over the world until he was 30 years old, winning more than 21 different titles at different stages of his career with a record of 21 wins out of 22 contests he participated in between 1967 and 1973. The most important title Arnold Schwarzenegger gained during his career was when he won the title of Mr World at 18 years old. In 1971 Schwarzenegger retired from bodybuilding after winning the Mr. Olympia contest three years in a row from 1970 to 1972. Schwarzenegger was ranked in the list of "Most Muscular Men of All Time" at number 4, behind the professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, with a score of 9.9/10 Nielsen,[4] and Michael Jordan with a score of 9.8/10 Nielsen.[5] In 2003 he returned to competition at the Mr. Olympia contest for one last time, placing 7th out of 22 contestants.[6] http://culturismorelmundo.com/index_files/Page2739. htm https://web.archive.org/web/20071210180531/http://www.wabillyswabillyswan.com/Arnold_Schwarzenegger_1.htm http://www.body-building-information-center.com/articles/arnold_schwarzenegger_biography1.html http://www.bodybuildingprojectcentral. cfa1e77820
